Hartree–Fock critical nuclear charge in two-electron atoms

چکیده

Electron correlation effects play a key role in stabilising two-electron atoms near the critical nuclear charge, representing smallest charge required to bind two electrons. However, deciphering importance of these relies on fully understanding uncorrelated Hartree-Fock description. Here, we investigate properties ground state wave function small limit using various symmetry-restricted formalisms. We identify where spin-symmetry breaking occurs give an unrestricted that predicts ionisation electron. also discover another closed-shell electron density detaches from nucleus, and fractional spin errors static this limit.

Effect of nuclear motion on the critical nuclear charge for two- electron atoms

A variational method for calculating the critical nuclear charge ZC required for the binding of a nucleus to two electrons is reported. The method is very effective and performs well compared to the traditional variational principle for calculating energy. The critical nuclear charge, which corresponds to the minimum charge required for the atomic system to have at least one bound state, has be...

Nuclear-Charge Screening in Positronium Formation from Helium Atoms

An analytical treatment of the electron screening effect within an active-electron model is given for positronium formation from helium atoms. A first-order distorted wave approximation with correct boundary conditions is applied to evaluate the transition amplitude. In the range of impact energy for which the introduced perturbative approach is valid, both the total and differential cross sect...

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Two-electron photoionization of endohedral atoms

Using He@C60 as an example, we demonstrate that static potential of the fullerene core essentially alters the cross section of the two-electron ionization differential in one-electron energy dσ++(ω)/dε. We found that at high photon energy prominent oscillations appear in it due to reflection of the second, slow electron wave on the C60 shell, which ”dies out” at relatively high ε values, of abo...
